New blog in the making!!

Whith my newly opened galleries (Copper Fox GAllery and Chicken coop Nova Scotia Folk art gallery) I am tossing between creating a blog or a website for my Folk art gallery!! The thing that I like with a blog is that it is interactive..people can comment on a piece..that all process becomes alive!!
Website, well..although very nice..I personaly think that they are "cold" somehow..
I think I am leaning toward the blog..so stay tuned!!!
In the meantime...here a photo of the blossomed apple tree that I have at the gallery!! Just gorgeous..people stopped by everyday just to take pictures!!

HALL'S HARBOUR ARTIST HAS AN EYE FOR ART!

Hall's Harbour artist has natural eye for art

An eye for nature: Fabienne Leydecker’s work is on display at CentreStage. Submitted

Published on March 9, 2011

Fabienne Leydecker of Hall’s Harbour is the artist featured during the run of Dial “M” for Murder, on at CentreStage Theatre in Kentville until April 9.

Fabienne Leydecker was born in the little town of Bayonne, in the Pays Basque region of France. At an early age, she became fascinated with nature and began drawing wildlife. At 14, she attended college in Chantilly for equine studies. Not surprisingly, her love of horses and art continue to intertwine. She became the first female jockey in France and later moved to Canada to ride racehorses and develop her art.

"My passion for art eventually became too hard to resist, and I pursued a full-time career as an artist," she says.
Fabienne Leydecker considers herself fortunate to have painted with Derek Wicks, a well-known wildlife artist; Moe Shier, a realist animal painter; and Rosemarie Armstrong, an Ontario rural scenic artist. Her current work is mainly abstract paintings.

"I love when my paintings show not only the beauty of the colours and light but also energies.”

In 2009, she and her husband, along with their four dogs, moved to Nova Scotia, where she finds inspiration in the countryside. They have just relocated their Copper Fox Gallery to Hall’s Harbour. The gallery will be open to the public in early summer.

Fabienne Leydecker is a member of Visual Arts Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council, and the Alliance of Kings Artists.

STANDING ON GUARD pony RELEASED!!!

Tribute to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police "STANDING ON GUARD"

The Trail of Painted Ponies proudly pays tribute to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with a majestic new Painted Pony titled, "Standing on Guard."

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have proudly served Canada and its people since 1873. This colourful tradition continues with a spectacle known around the world as the Musical Ride. In keeping with tradition, the Musical Ride is performed by a full troop of thirty-two riders who are first and foremost police officers, along with their awe-inspiring horses. The Musical Ride consists of a stunning variety of intricate figures and cavalry drill, choreographed to music. "Standing on Guard" is a tribute to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Musical Ride, where months of training and practice make horse and rider one.

Canadian artist Fabienne Leydecker artfully created the decoration on the base of "Standing on Guard," which enhances the noble quality of this RCMP Painted Pony. The Mounted Police are near and dear to Fabienne's heart since her father-in-law, Dr. Harry Palmer, was the principal veterinarian for the Toronto Mounted Police and the Royal Winter Fair for over 30 years. He also worked tirelessly to save the Toronto Mounted Police horses from a terrible virus, many years ago. Dr. Palmer was successful in his efforts to save these glorious horses and the Toronto Mounted Police were indebted to him. Artist Fabienne Leydecker continues her family's distinguished legacy of honoring the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with "Standing on Guard."

"Standing on Guard" will be available in Canada in March 2011 and from fine retailers across America in April, 2011. Collectors may also pre-order "Standing on Guard" from the Official Painted Ponies Store beginning April 1, 2011.

Yesterday, I was very pleased with Turquoise Soul the way it turned out..but when I took pictures for my blog, and pictures didn't turned out as nice as the original..I kind of knew then, that I would have to re work the painting to give it the punch that I wanted to.

NEW ABSTRACT

With a solo show in couple weeks, I figured that I was better off to put myself in gear and work to have some new paintings ready. The only thing with me is that I like to try new technic with my abstracts..which is not always a great thing to do when you prepare a show..;)
Although, it may appear to be a different style, the subject is very similar of what I always paint..earthy, energies and soulful subject.
This time, I am very pleased as those abstracts tie very well with me Native indian series that I started painting wile back..
Turquoise soul 24 x 36 inches - Acrylic and mix media. I will probably work a bit more on that painting tomorrow..:)

Stone soul - 10x8 inches - Acrylic and mix media.
